About This Project

The INSTI HIV Self Test is the world’s fastest over-the-counter HIV self test. The design language was inspired by over-the-counter products. As HIV testing becomes more accepted, bioLytical wanted INSTI to resemble something one would pick up at a pharmacy. The project was 6 months+ in the making with countless revisions to ensure that it passes through various government regulators.

Challenge

The INSTI product has been updated and requires a design that can reflect the innovation of the HIV test.

Simplified Instructions


Originally a multi-page booklet manual, the new design is condensed into 1 single sheet. Instructions & drawings were simplified in order to achieve a reduction in material. The entire process was validated through user trials & approved by regulators.

Designed for Multiple languages


As INSTI enters new markets, the new design was able to accommodate packaging that require more than 1 language.

Colours


Primary colours for the packaging was inspired by colours of the water.

Chosen for the approachable & credible characteristics.
